So, how do you guys like the new theme? Just if you are wondering: no, it's not the theme I spent hours designing and building. It's the only theme that weebly would let you edit. I have had some serious trouble with uploading the theme to weebly and am just leaving it at this for now.
Anyway, here's what I've learned about web design and weebly through this process.
- Weebly is a very hard platform to work with. It may seem great on the outside, but once you get to know it (and have blogged for more than three months), you learn that it's hard to work with and very generic. And everyone knows that to stand out in the blogging world, you have to be original.
- Web design itself (like the part where you actually draw up the plan for the website) is easy, once you have an idea. It's hard though, to get the idea from your head to the paper.
- Writing code id hard. Especially if you tackle a large project like this as your first project.
- Finally, don't expect the perfect design on your first try. Somethings you need to revise and edit before it looks good:)
So, yeah. Bottom line is: if your plan on expanding your blog from five readers a day, you should not consider weebly. And, if you want to design your own website, think hard about your capabilities before you set expectations. Good Luck!!:)
